Toyota today recalled the Prius and PriusV for model years 2013-2015 because of the risk of stall speed. All 27,800 Prius models have been recalled. Toyota says the reason for the car’s software may have caused the speed.

Toyota’s Prius and PriusV can autonomously go into safe mode to ensure passenger safety when problems are detected in the hybrid system. But because of a series of failures in the system’s software, the vehicle loses this safety feature. In the event of a failure of the hybrid system, the vehicle is likely to stall.

Prius and PriusV owners can take their cars to dealers with updated software for software updates and to monitor if their inverters fail.

In 2014 and 2019, Toyota recalled Prius models for possible software glitches.

Prius owners who are recalled can check the official Toyota review via email.
