Honda Accord No Longer Uses Manual Transmission
There has been a growing demand for vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions as customers have become more and more interested in them. In response to this change, Honda eliminated an option in Accord, the manual transmission option.
According to Honda’s newly released filing, the company will discontinue one Accord, a model with a manual transmission, from the end of 2019.
Sales of cars with manual transmissions are already low.
Honda is the last developer in the U.S. to produce a manual gearbox, and Toyota stopped making manual gearboxes early among developers of midsize cars.
Other than the absence of a manual gearbox, details of the changes are unclear, but a version could be available soon, with interviews expected by the end of the year at the latest.
