Was so tired replacing fuses on an old Dixon mower with an intermittent short. This does the job and works as expected.

I have a classic Ford pickup, and while I enjoy it, as with a lot of older vehicles, it has some quirks. For example, when I switch from air conditioning to heater, I usually blow the 20 amp mini-fuse. That gets old quick, especially during spring and fall, where I may want the heater in the morning, and air con later in the day. It’s not only the cost of the fuse, it’s the trouble to to replace it each time. I always have a box of fuses in the glovebox.I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a fuse box circuit breaker until I found these. Mini fuses themselves aren’t all that cheap, so for about a buck-eighty apiece (you get 10 for your $17.68), this is not a bad deal.I went out to test this newfangled thing in the truck as you’ll see in the photo. It plugged right in, and then I tried switching from the air conditioner to the heater and back a few times. That usually causes a momentary surge that blows the fuse, but this time, I couldn’t get it to do it. By the way, I’ve talked to the mechanics when the truck is in for tune-ups, and they say, sometimes this just happens in older vehicles. There’s no way to track why — it’s just a power spike — but they do warn, don’t put in a higher-amp fuse! You don’t want to burn out wiring. But like I say, blowing fuses gets old.The write-up says these fuses have “automatic recovery function,” so all I can assume is that there’s a temporary overload, the inner circuit breaker kicks off — and then back on again — and since the overcurrent is just a flash, everything runs as normal. I’m getting either air con or heat without a problem. So far so good, and if this continues to prove out, my headache is gone and these mini-circuit-breakers are recommended!
